In the beginning, living was easy. The Great War was won, and the true victors—the representatives of the U.S. military-industrial complex—sat down at the Bretton Woods conference in 1944 and marveled at John Maynard Keynes’ vision of a new global economy with a single currency satisfying every need. Naturally, since blockchain technology wasn’t yet in place, the American printing press was working uninterrupted, and the rest of the industrial world was either lying in ruins or owed the U.S. everything.
